This painting ended sooner than I expected. I believe art can develop it's own energy. In this case, I stepped back from pushing him to be perfect. That wasn't the kind of man he was.

I began this painting in the midst of my move to the lake. Without a linen canvas at hand, I used Ampersand board. I find it too slick for my taste genrally, but I like the way I can draw the figure and make adjustments if necessary.
